ATTENTION ALL GARDEN COMMUNICATION PROFESSIONALS!
|
The Garden Writers Association (GWA) will be awarding the prestigious GWA Media Awards to the top communicators of 2007. Don't miss this opportunity to receive the recognition your work deserves! All eligible entries for the 2008 Garden Writers Association Media Awards Program must focus on gardening and may be submitted by individuals or publishers that are GWA members or non-members.
BACKGROUND
For more than 20 years, the Garden Writers Association has conducted an annual awards program. Originally the Quill & Trowel Awards, the program expanded into the current GWA Media Awards. Throughout its evolution, the GWA Awards program has maintained its primary goal of providing public recognition for excellence in gardening related communications in all media.
ELIGIBILITY
Only works originally copyrighted in North America are eligible for entry. Entries must be original and have been published or aired between January 1, 2007, and December 31, 2007. The official copyright date will be the eligibility determinant. You do not need to be a GWA member to enter. Anyone, such as a writer, editor, publisher, producer, etc., may enter. Fees will be based upon the membership status of the entrant only. Judges and committee members are not eligible to enter.
DEADLINES
All entries must be postmarked by January 31, 2008. Absolutely no late entries will be accepted. The Awards Committee requests that all book entries be submitted as soon as possible to expedite the judging process.
JUDGING
A jury of professionals, selected for their experience, expertise and genre perspective, will be assembled to evaluate all entries. Judges may not submit entries of their own work.
AWARDS
Entries will be judged on a sliding scale. Awards will be given at two levels: Silver Awards of Achievement, Gold Awards for Best Talent or Best Product, representing the best of each artistic category (writing, photography, etc.) and the best of each product (book, magazine, etc.).
PRESENTATION OF AWARDS
Silver Awards will be announced in April 2008. Winning entries will be displayed at the GWA Annual Meeting Exhibition and awards will be presented at the Annual Awards Banquet. The Gold Awards will be unveiled during the 60th Garden Writers Association Awards Banquet on September 22, 2008, in Portland, OR.
