Emergent Communicator Award
Emergent Communicator Award recognizes a member under the age of 40 who has demonstrated exceptionally high degrees of skill, professional ethics and dedication to the GWA mission and values. Self-nominations are welcome. Only one award winner may be named each year.
Katie Elzer-Peters has a BS in Public Horticulture from Purdue University, and an MS in Public Garden Management from the Longwood Graduate Program at Longwood Gardens and the University of Delaware.
Katie has worked in botanical gardens around the United States, authored eight books for Cool Springs Press, and is Editor in Chief of The Designer, the quarterly journal of the Association of Professional Landscape Designers. She helps GWA members and other authors self publish their books and works contractually for Quarto Publishing in the United States and the United Kingdom. Katie writes web and print content for growers, breeders, and retailers in the green industry. She has ghost written several books for a variety of publishers. Katie is the chairperson of GWA’s Sponsorship Committee and is an obsessive runner.
